Anaqua Holds Inaugural User Conference

Global IP Leaders Share IP Best Practices and Chart Future Roadmap for IAM

Toronto, May 5, 2006 — Anaqua, a provider of intellectual asset management (IAM) software solutions, held its first User Conference in Toronto May 3-5. The event was attended by IP executives, patent and trademark attorneys and paralegals, as well as IT and operations staff from a number of industry leaders, including Microsoft, Kimberly-Clark, BAT and Ford. The conference was the first gathering of the Anaqua client community of IP leaders who share best practices and establish the priorities for the evolution of the ANAQUA system.

The Anaqua community is led by an Executive Council which met to define the community governance model. In a discussion of IAM business priorities, it was clear that when an enterprise gains immediate access to all relevant IP data, the focus shifts to improving risk management and the ability to target new opportunities.

In a series of case studies, each company described their previous IP infrastructure and processes, their new ANAQUA environment and the business process best practices they have instituted to improve their IP asset management.  There were lively discussions about the challenges of change management in large, complex enterprises – the lessons learned and the key success factors.

Additional sessions covered a range of topics, including:

There was a special focus on rolling out the browser-based, online ANAQUA system to law firms around the globe in as many as 160 countries. Several of the attending companies were taking the opportunity to begin this process at the INTA conference, which began in Toronto immediately after the Anaqua event.
