Anaqua Cares 2019: Showing Our Commitment to the Global Community

By Susan Grover, Senior Director of Human Resources, Anaqua

At Anaqua, we know a company is only as good as the people you hire. Their knowledge, passion, skills, and integrity are shaped by their families and the communities where they grew up. To say “thank you” to the societies that have helped our people and our company grow, we established – and this year expanded – our community service initiative: Anaqua Cares.

It is our way to give back and ensure our staff have ample time to volunteer for the causes and charities they value. Keep reading to learn more about our teams and their work, plus visit these amazing charities we were fortunate  to partner with this year.

What Is Anaqua Cares?

Anaqua Cares is our way to give back to the places where we live. Every year, we organize several weeks of opportunities to volunteer with a variety of organizations. The first Anaqua Cares took place in Boston, but we’ve since expanded it to every office we operate.

Hundreds of people provided many volunteer hours to show how they care.

Each office is encouraged and supported in organizing events and partnerships. Activities range from organizing volunteer events and supporting local charities to donation drives, park and beach cleanups, and helping individual team members have time to volunteer with organizations they are passionate about.

Highlighting a Global Impact

Every year, Anaqua Cares continues to grow. Last year was the first time we were able to expand our community program globally, with every office around the world participating. That effort continued in 2019, and we’d like to highlight some of the fantastic work our staff and leaders did in their local areas.

Boston

This year, we had more than 60 volunteers from the Anaqua Boston office, providing service at six separate locations:

  1. Boston Children’s Museum
  2. St. Francis House
  3. Women’s Lunch Place
  4. Pine Street Inn
  5. Cradles to Crayons
  6. Greater Boston Food Bank

These are truly deserving organizations providing a positive impact in our area. At Cradles to Crayons, we helped The Giving Factory impact more than 145,000 children.  At St. Francis House, volunteers served roughly 200 lunches, while at the Women’s Lunch Place, our team served 186 lunches. Pine Street Inn serves 2,700 meals daily, and our volunteers helped create silverware bundles for those meals.

You can see all of their hard work and smiles in the photos below.

Anaqua Cares

Hyderabad

This year, Anaqua Cares Hyderabad’s events were dedicated to helping our environment, so the team decided to work with local school children to plant trees.

We connected with the non-profit CHHAYAnke to give back to our planet one tree at a time. This fruitful event culminated in the planting of more than 500 trees at the Vidyaniketan Model High School. Our volunteers worked with the school and its students to plant trees and demonstrate how to take care of them so they can grow and thrive.

We hope that by helping the trees grow, the children will learn more profound lessons of sharing and caring. Together, planting these trees helps encourage an approach to life full of awareness and mindfulness.

CHHAYAnke is a public charitable trust non-profit organization, located in Hyderabad and operating since 2016. Its chief mission is to foster the all-round development and care of children, women, and human beings to foster an environment of humanity and positivity.

Anaqua Cares

Gurgaon

Anaqua’s Gurgaon office collaborated with Foodshaala, a non-profit organization that supports food and nutrition security for low-income groups.  They set up community kitchens employing local women to provide affordable nourishing meals in the area.

Anaqua volunteers helped Foodshaala conduct an Awareness and Food Distribution Drive at the Naya Savera School, a school for the underprivileged children. This effort helped provide 85 nourishing meals to Naya Savera students, plus educate them about healthy eating through various games and activities.

Money raised by our volunteers will also go toward the cost of meals, transporting food for drop-off locations to the school, and running the awareness activities. We want to thank Raadhika Gupta for the development of her organization and the chance for us to contribute both sponsorships and volunteering.

London

The London office’s Anaqua Cares efforts focused on a partnership with the Hammersmith Community Gardens Association. This local environmental charity was established in 1984 and still works to provide food, education, and management of green spaces in nearby regions. Its gardens are used as educational resources by local schools as well as places to volunteer for local groups.

Anaqua’s team got their hands dirty by volunteering to work in the local garden, weeding, composting, caring for flowers and food beds, and more. With over 18 volunteers from our London office, we’re pleased with the difference we could make and thank Hammersmith Community Gardens for the opportunity.

And Many More

Anaqua Cares teams were also active in France and Japan, as well as other cities in the U.S. We’d like to extend a big “thank you!” to all of our volunteers for their hard work with local groups, national non-profits, home-building activities, creating messages and cards for those living with a critical illness, and much more.

We’d like to extend a big “thank you!” to all of our volunteers for their hard work with local groups, national non-profits, home-building activities, creating messages and cards for those living with a critical illness, and much more.
